Jillian, also known as the Wine Junkie, decided to make bigger strides later in her life when activities like long distance running started to take a small scale of her life. Things got complicated. The Wine Junkie decided in 2019 that she wanted to eventually start her own business as a wine brand owner after taking on a severe, rare condition, Eosinophilic Asthma.
What is the inspiration behind the cause?
After seeing numerous of medical doctors of all different specialties, The Wine Junkie was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Asthma in July of 2019. Hitting her hard out of nowhere. The Wine Junkie suffered without a diagnosis for over a long period of time. During this time the Wine Junkie had plans to start her own wine business but was frustrated because life was becoming a challenge medically. After seeing a great deal of asthma specialist, internal medicine and a few pulmonologist, she was finally diagnosed after a year and a half of onset with symptoms. It was a very frustrating and scary experience that no human should have to encounter for that length of time. As she was trying to get treatment, she researched her wine business while researching a pulmonologist who could treat her. The Wine Junkie decided these were two very personal life touching experiences. While on the journey and when she launch her wine business, she would give $.50 for every purchased bottle of wine to APFED, a 501(c)3 organization for research and to help them expand education and bring more awareness. If there was more knowledge and awareness to Eosinophilic conditions, medical providers could possibly treat and diagnose sooner. It can make a world of difference.
If you have a loved one struggling with a respiratory illness, it does not hurt to have them check for eosinophilic diseases.
